I taught myself how to play guitar.
2. How did you first get famous?
In 1956 I made a No. 1 single "Heartbreak Hotel", No. 1 ablum, elvis presley and signed with paramount.
3. What was the first song you wrote?
The first song i wrote was "My Happiness".
4. Where were you born?
I was born in 1935 Tupelo Mississippi.
5. Where did you first perform?
I recorded my first demo record in Sun studio.
6. How old were you when you got famous?
I was 18.
7. What movies were you in?
Some of biggest hits are Flaming Star, King Creole, and Wild in the Country.
8. When were you discharged from the army?
I was discharged March 23, 1964
9. Who inspired you?
I was inspired by Ernest Tubb, Bill Monroe, and the Church.
10. Who gave you your first guitar?
My Mom Gladys gave me my first guitar when I was 11 years old.
